Part of the family that politically ruled the 32nd Ward for decades, Dan Rostenkowski dies
Dan Rostenkowski, Noble St. resident, dies in his Lake Benedict, WI, home today at the age of 82. He was the son of Joseph who served as the 32nd Ward Alderman from 1931 to 1955 and as Ward Committeeman from 1936 to 1961.

Anna Shoykhet of Northbrook, owner of two heroin ridden buildings at 2719 and 2723 W. Haddon, appeared in court on Aug. 10 with a new attorney to face the possible demolition of both buildings.

Shoppers, prepare your shopping bags, get your running shoes on. Purchases of certain items under $100, such as clothing, footwear and school supplies, will have 5% less Illinois state sales tax charged between Aug. 6 thru Aug. 15. School supplies are not subject to the $100 rule. Instead of paying 9.75% on purchases in Chicago, shoppers will pay 4.75%.

Commander Judith Martin, 13th District, invites you to join in the festivities to give a going away party to neighborhood crime and drugs at Smith Park, 2526 W. Grand Ave. between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Mobile food facilities ordinance introduced by Waguespack and Daley
A new ordinance authorizing the operation of Mobile Food Facilities (MFFs) was introduced to Chicago City Council yesterday, July 28, by Aldermen Scott Waguespack, 32nd Ward, and Vi Daley, 43rd Ward.
A creative approach to increase economic opportunities, these facilities are already part of a mobile food experience in many other cities such as Los Angeles, New York, Portland and Austin.
